What is AAPS?

AAPS is a voluntary, peer-to-peer network of higher education-based programmes and departments which educate and train city/urban and regional planners. The aim of AAPS is to facilitate information exchange between planning schools mainly in Sub-Saharan Africa; and between AAPS and planning school associations in other parts of the world. To this end, AAPS is a member of the Global Planning Education Association Network (GPEAN) which links the nine planning schools associations across the globe.

AAPS’s website is intended to promote information exchange, share information on planning debates and publications, distribute notifications of conferences, workshops and other events, and assist planning academics with information on staff exchange possibilities and sabbatical placements. The website will also assist with capacity building to support planning education in Africa and to this end it will carry discussion groups on planning educational issues. It is supported through a partnership with the African Centre for Cities at the University of Cape Town, with a grant from the Rockefeller Foundation. Go to AAPS web site
